Rudy

Rudy arrived for rehoming on 23 March 2025. He is just over 2 years of age, and is looking for an active home, with confident and experienced owners.

Rudy is not used to being left alone, so will need a home with someone there all the time, or owners willing to work him up gradually to being left

The sort of home for Rudy

  • No dogs or cats in the home

  • No children under the age of 10 years

  • Access to his own private and secure garden

  • An active home

  • Experienced and confident owner

  • No cages/crates in the home

Handling

Rudy is probably a small-medium staffie-cross. His fur is a little longer and softer than a normal staffie, as is his tail. He weighs 18.9 kilos.

Rudy is very easy to handle, allowing us to fit him with one of our collars and harnesses with no problem other than being very excited. He has not shown any aggression or dominant behaviours to any of our people since arriving.

Rudy knows sit, paw, wait/stay, down (lie down), close (heel), touch, eyes.

Rudy was briefly with us in December 2024 and was rehomed. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances they are no longer able to keep him.

Walking

Rudy can be a strong boy, but if you walk briskly, you will not notice him pulling, more that he walks at full length of the lead. If you are a slower walker, it may feel like he is pulling. Rudy loves his walks and is not bothered about passing traffic. If he sees dogs, he may ignore them, or if they have a go at him, he may have a go back at them. You will need to be confident and assertive with him, as he may lack confidence, as less confident walkers may find Rudy more reactive to dogs than other walkers.

Playing

Rudy loves to play. He will play with any toy. He loves to run around with toys in his mouth until you have the next toy to throw for. He will rag and destroy soft toys easily. We have been able to pick up and tidy toys around him, and we use treat distractions to get the last toy.

Health

Rudy is fully vaccinated and microchipped. He appears in good health. He will be neutered after adoption, once he has had time to properly settle in his new home.

The adoption contribution for Rudy is £225.00.

Further information provided by the previous owner:

  • House trained, but may have an occasional overnight accident

  • Rudy is not left during the day, the only time we left him he pulled up the hall carpet.

  • Pulls towards dogs but otherwise not bad walking.

  • Has only ever had one dog come up to his face, nothing happened, but we never introduced to dogs

  • Never lived children and never been around children.

  • Never lived with cats, and would chase cats.

  • Will probably chase squirrels, birds, etc.

  • Good passenger in the car, but our longest journey has only been 30 minutes

  • Does not like going to the pub

  • If he sees his reflection in glass he may growl at himself
